Show: March 7-May 2012
Kent's a recent graduate of the Professional Photography Certificate Program at Indiana University-Purdue University, Ft. Wayne, IN (IPFW), School of Business/Management. Special assignments include volunteering on behalf of NPO's, exhibiting at galleries, and combining his passion for travel and new learning opportunities along with photography.
Kent's been an avid photographer since he was 12; upon receiving a Kodak Instamatic Camera for Christmas. He began immediately capturing images of friends, family, neighbors, nature and pets-the ordinary and the extraordinary. Now, from his rural Indiana country farm to cities, towns, open country and urban scenes around the globe, he embraces the opportunity to capture our shared world and communicate your unique story. Kent's signature style is to blend documentary photojournalism and creative fine arts to uniquely capture the "everyday" and the very special day.
In Kent's "other" life he was a native of small town and country living New Freedom, Pennsylvania, graduated from Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN with a dual major in Electrical Engineering and Bio-medical Engineering. Opportunities followed with multiple and diverse career experiences including an internship at IU Medical Center, Indianapolis, working at large corporations and founding two entrepreneurial "start-ups". Parts of the journey have included living in Southern California, 31 years on a 52 acre circa 1880 homestead in Indiana (including at present) and recently two years as Director of the World Friendship Center, an NPO in Hiroshima, Japan. Kent and his wife Sarah have two lovely and talented daughters-Erica Sweitzer-Beckman, a Manchester Alumni and Laura Ann, and Earlham Alumni. Kent has family and extended family which live in the North Manchester Community.
